FAQ

Your Questions Answered

Can I engage you for ad hoc advice?

Yes. Some clients use me regularly; others call when they need help. I’m comfortable with both — provided I have capacity.

Do you go to court?

No. I focus on strategy, advice, and resolution. If litigation is needed, I will refer you to trusted counsel and stay involved as needed.

Are you still Kafrouni Lawyers?

Yes and no. Kafrouni Lawyers was the firm I led. This (Kafrouni Law) is a new chapter — intentionally solo, leaner, and more personal.

Do you offer fixed fees?

In some matters, I may be able to provide a fixed fee. However, most matters are charged at my hourly rate because costs often depend on factors outside my control — for example, how cooperative other parties are and whether instructions change.

What industries do you work with?

A broad range including manufacturing, professional firms, healthcare, retail, entertainment, technology and telecommunications. My focus is on ownership, control, contracts, and transactions rather than technical regulation in one niche.

Can you work with our existing advisors?

Absolutely. I regularly collaborate with accountants, tax advisors, brokers, other lawyers and industry specialists.

What’s your style—commercial or conservative?

Commercial, with guardrails. I’ll tell you what’s possible, what’s risky, and what I’d do in your shoes. If the risk is acceptable for the upside, I’ll say so; if it’s not, I’ll help you redesign the deal.

Will my information stay confidential?

Yes. Client confidentiality is absolute with me except where you agree otherwise (usually where it is necessary to advance your matter).

How do I know I'm getting value from you?

Value comes from clarity, speed, and risk management. My role is to protect your position, keep momentum in deals, and prevent costly mistakes. Most clients find the upfront spend saves them multiples in avoided disputes, penalties, or failed deals. If I don't think I can add value, I will tell you.

Can you give me an estimate of your fees upfront?

At the very beginning, it’s often not possible to provide an accurate estimate. Once I’m fully briefed and the scope of work is clear, I’ll provide an estimate.

Can I end your engagement if I'm not satisfied for whatever reason?

Yes. You may end my engagement at any time by written notice. That said, my hope is that if you ever have concerns about my service, you’ll raise them with me straight away. I take feedback seriously and will do whatever I reasonably can to address your concerns and put things right. My aim is always to resolve issues early so that we can continue working together productively.

Do you use Artificial Intelligence (AI) in your work?

I do use AI tools in my practice, but always under my direct supervision. AI can assist with tasks such as document review, drafting efficiencies, or research helping me deliver faster and more cost-effective services. Importantly, every piece of advice you receive is mine, not the AI’s. I review and refine everything before it reaches you. Also, I only use AI where it genuinely improves outcomes and efficiency, never as a substitute for my judgment, experience, or duty to you. I only use secure, professional-grade AI tools designed for business use. However, it is important to understand that no digital system is ever completely immune from hacking or data breaches. If you have any concerns about how your information may be handled, please raise them with me and we can discuss the best approach for your matter.

Consultation

For new clients, I offer a paid initial phone consultation for $1,430 (incl. GST), which covers up to two hours of my time.

This option provides a relatively low-risk way for us to discuss your situation and explore how I may be able to help. I will provide initial advice and direction where possible. However, most matters require more than two hours to complete; if that’s the case, I’ll provide a follow-up proposal outlining how I'm able to help and an estimate of legal fees.

I set aside only a limited number of consultation times. If you can’t find a suitable time, or would like to clarify anything before booking, please get in touch — I’ll do my best to accommodate you.
